BUSTED: Suspected Drug Dealer's Getaway Bid Fails as Officers Swoop in Liphook
Man remanded in custody after police find Class A and B drugs following late-night pursuit

A late-night patrol in Liphook turned into a drug bust when sharp-eyed officers spotted a vehicle apparently trying to give them the slip — and decided to find out why.
What followed was a textbook takedown that's left one suspected dealer behind bars and removed another batch of illegal substances from Hampshire's streets.
The Failed Getaway
Two officers on patrol in Victoria Way late on Friday, February 20, noticed a vehicle that appeared to be attempting to evade them. Rather than let it slide, they made the decision to stop the car and investigate.
That instinct proved spot-on. The driver failed a roadside drugs swipe, immediately raising suspicions that this was no ordinary motorist making their way home.
When officers searched both the man and his vehicle, they discovered what they were looking for: several wraps of suspected Class A and Class B drugs. The driver's evening took a dramatic turn for the worse.
Charged and Remanded
Isaac Caetano, 30, of Marine Parade, Worthing, was duly charged with possession with intent to supply — one of the most serious drug offences in the book. He also faces charges of driving without the correct licence or insurance.
Appearing before Portsmouth Magistrates, Caetano's case was adjourned at the defence's request. But unlike many defendants, he won't be spending the intervening time at home. Magistrates remanded him in custody ahead of a rearranged appearance at the same court early next week.
Drug Running Through Hampshire
The arrest highlights an ongoing problem with drug supply networks using Hampshire's road network to move substances between urban centres. Liphook's position on the A3 corridor makes it a natural transit point — and police know it.
Officers conducting routine patrols are trained to spot the signs of County Lines operations and drug running. A vehicle behaving evasively, a driver who seems nervous, a passenger who can't explain where they're going — these are all red flags that can trigger a stop.
In this case, the driver's apparent attempt to avoid police attention had exactly the opposite effect. Sometimes the guilty conscience really does give you away.
Message to Dealers
Hampshire Police have made clear that tackling drug supply remains a priority. Every arrest like this disrupts supply chains, removes harmful substances from circulation, and sends a message to those who think they can operate with impunity.
For residents of Liphook and the surrounding area, the arrest offers reassurance that police are actively patrolling and ready to act on suspicious behaviour. The quiet villages and market towns of East Hampshire might seem unlikely drug-running territory, but criminals don't respect boundaries — and neither do the officers pursuing them.
Caetano's case will continue through the courts in the coming weeks. If convicted of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, he faces the prospect of a significant custodial sentence.
