Petersfield Buses: Routes, Where They Go and How to Check Times
Six bus routes are listed from Petersfield station and The Square. Most run a limited daytime service, so check times before you rely on one.
National Rail's onward travel poster for Petersfield station (data correct at November 2025) lists six bus routes: 37 to Havant via Waterlooville, 38 to Alton, 54 to Chichester, 67 to Winchester, 92 to Midhurst and 94 to Buriton. None is shown running on Sundays, and several run limited daytime services only. Check times with Traveline on 0871 200 22 33 or at the stop. Checked 5 October 2026.
The routes at a glance
The clearest official summary of Petersfield's buses is National Rail's onward travel poster for Petersfield station, which lists the main destinations by bus and the route to catch. The poster is marked version 16.0, November 2025, with data "correct at November 2025". We read it on 5 October 2026. Bus services change, so treat it as a map of where buses go and check the times separately.
Route 37 serves Clanfield, Horndean, Cowplain, Waterlooville, South Downs College at Purbrook and Havant. The poster says it runs Mondays to Saturdays only, with no Sunday service.
Route 38 serves Sheet, Liss, Liss Forest, Greatham, Longmoor Camp, Empshott, Selborne, West Worldham, Chawton and Alton, including Butts Community Hospital in Alton. The poster describes it as a limited daytime service on Mondays to Fridays only, with no evening, Saturday or Sunday buses.
Route 54 serves Sheet, Durleigh Marsh, Rogate, Habin, Nyewood, South Harting, Uppark House, Compton, West Marden, Walderton, Funtington, East Ashling, Hambrook and Chichester. It is listed as a limited daytime service on Mondays to Saturdays only.
Route 67 serves Stroud, Langrish, East Meon, West Meon, Bramdean, Cheriton, New Alresford and Winchester. It is also a limited daytime service on Mondays to Saturdays only.
Route 92 serves Sheet, Durleigh Marsh, Rogate, Fyning, Trotton, Stedham and Midhurst, Mondays to Saturdays only.
Route 94 serves Buriton and Broadway Park, with a limited daytime service on Mondays to Fridays only.
The poster adds that it shows popular destinations and the main routes, and that additional services may run.
Where to catch them
The poster shows two bus stops at the station, lettered E and F. Route 67 is listed from stop E and the other five routes from stop F. The rail replacement bus stop is marked separately on the poster's map, so do not confuse the two.
All six routes are also listed as serving Petersfield High Street at The Square, which the poster puts at a 5 to 10 minute walk from the station.
How to check times
Hampshire County Council stopped producing its Area Travel Guides on 1 September 2025. Its timetables page says timetables remain available from the bus operators and are still displayed at stops, which are the operators' responsibility.
For journey planning, the council points to the National Public Transport Information planner at nationalpti.co.uk and the phone line 0871 200 22 33, on which it says charges apply. National Rail's poster gives the same number for Traveline.
At a stop, you can use the council's text for bus times service: text the stop's eight-letter code, shown on the bus stop sign, to 84268 for the next four buses. The council says texts are charged at your network rate plus 25p for each text received. On a smartphone, entering the same code at nextbuses.mobi shows up to the next ten departures.
Fares and bus passes
Fares are set by the bus operators. The county council's public transport page states that a single bus journey costs no more than £3 on most routes across England, a cap it dates from 1 January 2025. Ask the driver for the fare on your route, because not every route is covered.
The older person's bus pass is available to Hampshire residents who have reached State Pension age. The council says it gives free travel on bus services throughout England from 9:30am to 11pm Monday to Friday, and all day at weekends and on public holidays. You apply through the county council with a passport-style photo, proof of address and proof of age. There is a separate disabled person's bus pass, linked from the council's bus passes page.
Trains and taxis
For London, Guildford, Havant and Portsmouth the train is usually the direct option: see our Petersfield station guide. The National Rail poster also notes that the station has a taxi rank and advises checking availability and pre-booking if necessary.
