Business Networking in Petersfield: Every Group, When It Meets and Which Suits You

Petersfield has a monthly networking lunch, a weekly business breakfast and a BNI chapter close by. Here is when and where each one meets, what it costs where the group says, and how to choose.

The main business networking groups in Petersfield are First Friday, a monthly lunch upstairs at the Folly wine bar with no membership, and BGN (Business Growth Network), a weekly Wednesday breakfast from 6:45am at The Half Moon in Sheet. The nearest BNI chapter, BNI South Downs, meets on Tuesday mornings at The Hampshire Hog in Clanfield. Petersfield.co also runs the Petersfield Business Club (£49 a month, one space per trade), which combines promotion on this site with an owners' WhatsApp group and a monthly meetup; call Dean Keating on 07418 627304.

The short answer

The town has two regular in-person networking groups of its own: First Friday, a monthly lunch, and BGN (Business Growth Network), a weekly breakfast. The nearest BNI chapter, BNI South Downs, meets just down the A3 in Clanfield. Which one suits you depends on how often you want to go and whether you want a structured referral group or a relaxed lunch.

Every detail below was checked on each group's own website or event listing on 16 October 2026. Dates, venues and prices change, so confirm with the organiser before you go.

First Friday Petersfield (monthly lunch)

When: the first Friday of the month, at lunchtime. The next dates listed on its website are Friday 2 October and Friday 6 November 2026.

Where: upstairs at the Folly wine bar in the town centre.

What it is like: informal. First Friday says there is no membership and no pitching; you book a place for the lunch you want to attend. Its older posts give a price including lunch and coffee, but check the current price when you book.

Booking: through the booking links on first-friday.org, or email info@first-friday.org.

Suits: owners who want to meet local people without a weekly commitment.

BGN, Business Growth Network (weekly breakfast)

When: every Wednesday, 6:45am to 8:30am.

Where: The Half Moon, 32 London Road, Sheet, GU31 4BE.

What it is like: a structured referral group. BGN's website says it has one member per profession, around 20 to 30 people at each meeting, and that your first visit is free. It lists a £150 joining fee and £68 a month after that.

Booking: the Register form on bgnetwork.co.uk, or its Eventbrite listing.

Suits: businesses that want a steady flow of referrals and can commit to a weekly early start.

BNI South Downs (weekly, Clanfield)

When: Tuesdays at 9:30am, according to BNI Hampshire's website.

Where: The Hampshire Hog, Clanfield, about 15 minutes south down the A3. BNI lists it as its Petersfield chapter, but it does not meet in the town.

What it is like: BNI is the best-known referral networking format: one member per trade, weekly meetings, and members passing each other business. Membership costs are not shown on the chapter page; ask when you visit.

Booking: visitor registration at bni.app/bc21235, or see BNI Hampshire's Petersfield page.

One-off events coming up

Petersfield Networking at Sky Park Farm: Wednesday 28 October 2026, 9:30am to 11am, Sky Park Farm, GU31 5PT. The Eventbrite listing says it is for 10 to 15 businesses. Book on Eventbrite.

Online and county-wide options

Petersfield Pulse: Shop Local & Businesses: a large local Facebook group where businesses post offers and residents ask for recommendations. It is a noticeboard rather than a meeting, but it is where many local people look for a trade.

Business East Hants: East Hampshire District Council's free business network, covering the whole district, from Alton to the villages. Its events move around the district.

Hampshire Chamber of Commerce and the FSB: county and national membership bodies with their own events, useful if you want training, lobbying and business support as well as contacts. Neither is specific to this town.

Petersfield Business Club (run by Petersfield.co)

The site you are reading runs the Petersfield Business Club. It is a different kind of membership: alongside meeting other owners, we write and publish your business profile and stories on Petersfield.co and promote you on the homepage and the scrolling ticker across the site.

What is included: a written profile, member stories, shared homepage and ticker placements, an optional owners' WhatsApp group and a monthly meetup in town. The first meetup date and venue are still being arranged.

Cost: £49 a month including VAT for the first 30 founding members, one space per trade, cancel any time.

Contact: Dean Keating, who publishes Petersfield.co, on 07418 627304 (call or WhatsApp).

Because we run it, we have not ranked it against the groups above. Many owners do both: a referral group for introductions and the club for being found locally.

How to choose

If you want referrals every week: BGN in Sheet or BNI South Downs in Clanfield. Both take one business per trade, so check your category is free.

If you want a relaxed monthly lunch: First Friday.

If you want local people to find you online as well as meet other owners: the Petersfield Business Club.

If you are just starting out: visit two or three as a guest before you sign up to anything. BGN says first visits are free, and First Friday has no membership to join.
