AI Consulting Services in Petersfield: What You Are Buying and How to Compare Providers
A buyer’s guide to AI consulting services and AI consulting companies, with a pet-care business as the example and the honest description of what Dean Keating offers.
Dean Keating provides AI consulting services for small businesses in Hampshire: a free call, an audit of the work worth automating, then the build and install, training and support. He is an individual consultant in Horndean, not a consulting company. Call or WhatsApp 07418 627304.
Start with what you want at the end
"AI consulting" covers very different things. At one end is a report that tells you where AI could help. At the other is somebody who builds the thing and switches it on. Before you compare providers, decide which of those you are shopping for.
What Dean Keating's service covers
His website describes four steps. A free call comes first. Then an audit of the work worth automating, then the build and install, then training and support. It is described as installed for you, not handed over. You leave the free call with a plan that you can use with him or without him, which is a fair test of any consultant: does the first conversation leave you better informed even if you never hire them?
The work he lists is practical: replying to enquiries within minutes, following up leads, sending and chasing quotes, booking into the diary, answering common questions across email, web and WhatsApp, raising invoices and chasing late payments, and the weekly report.
Consultant or consulting company
He is an individual consultant, not a company or firm, and this page will not describe him as one. The difference matters when you compare. A larger provider may offer several specialists, formal reporting and a contract. An individual offers a direct line to the person doing the work. Neither is automatically better; it depends on the size of the problem.
An imaginary pet-care business
The directory lists 19 vets and pet service businesses (10 October 2026), on the vets and pet services page. Picture a small grooming or boarding business. Enquiries come through email and WhatsApp: can you take a large dog on Saturday, is there space over half term, what are the vaccination requirements. The owner is handling an animal when they arrive.
A consulting engagement here would begin by writing down which of those messages are repeats. The audit step is that sorting exercise. The build might then handle the routine replies and pass anything unusual to a person. This is an illustration, not a description of any listed business.
Comparing providers
- Do they install, or advise and leave?
- Will the work sit inside the tools you already use?
- Can you see the plan before you commit?
- Who do you contact after launch?
- Is the cost explained before you agree?
