Petersfield Market Days: The Wednesday and Saturday Market, Farmers Market and Yearly Events
Petersfield has a general market in The Square every Wednesday and Saturday and a farmers market once a month. Here are the days and times, the fixed dates in the town calendar, and how to get there.
Petersfield market is held in The Square (GU32 3HP) every Wednesday and Saturday, 8:30am to 3pm, according to Visit Petersfield, the town council's tourism site. A farmers market takes place in The Square on the first Sunday of every month. Taro Fair is on the Heath on 6 October each year unless that is a Sunday. Checked 5 October 2026.
Market days and times
Petersfield's general market takes over The Square every Wednesday and Saturday, from 8:30am to 3pm. That is the listing on Visit Petersfield, the tourism website run by Petersfield Town Council, checked on 5 October 2026. It gives the location as the market square, Petersfield, GU32 3HP, and describes stalls selling fresh and cooked food, clothing and shoes, tools, baskets, plants, flowers and other goods.
The farmers market
Visit Petersfield's shopping page says a farmers market takes place in The Square on the first Sunday of every month, with food and drink sold direct by producers from around Hampshire. The page does not give opening times, so check the What's On listings before you travel.
Dates that come round every year
Taro Fair is held on the Heath on 6 October every year, unless that date falls on a Sunday, according to the town council's Heath page. It started as a horse fair and is now a large funfair. In 2026, 6 October is a Tuesday.
Bonfire and fireworks. The town council says Petersfield Round Table organises a bonfire and fireworks display at Bell Hill Recreation Ground every November. East Hampshire District Council keeps a page of local firework displays, which still showed the 2025 dates and ticket prices when we checked on 5 October 2026, so look for this year's details nearer the time.
The Square is also used for festivals and one-off events through the year. We have not listed dates for those, because they change annually.

The most complete official listing is the What's On page on Visit Petersfield. It runs in date order, can be filtered by category, including markets and events suited to families, and covers the surrounding villages as well as the town. Local organisers add their own events through the site's submission page, so it is worth checking back.

Getting to The Square
On foot from the station. National Rail's onward travel poster for Petersfield puts the High Street and The Square at a 5 to 10 minute walk from the station. Leave by Lavant Street, opposite the station entrance, follow it to the end and turn right into Chapel Street, which leads into The Square. By car. The town centre car parks are run by East Hampshire District Council and charge Monday to Saturday, so a Saturday market visit means paying to park, while two of the car parks are free on Sundays. Tariffs for each are in our Petersfield parking guide. Central is the short-stay car park and the largest.
Toilets
East Hampshire District Council lists two public toilets in Petersfield on its public toilets page: one at Central car park and one on St Peter's Road. It says all its public toilets have disabled facilities.
